Taslima Nasreen meets Rajnath Singh

Indian media reports said she asked Singh for permission to stay on in India at Saturday’s meeting.

In a tweet, Taslima said she had given Singh a copy of her book 'Wo Andhere Din'.

"He said, 'Aapka Andhere Din Khatam Ho Jayega'," the tweet said. The Hindi sentence here can be translated to "Your dark days will end."

Although it appeared to be some sort of assurance on Singh's behalf, Taslima did not elaborate on the details of their discussion.

Taslima, had life threats from Islamic fundamentalist groups in her homeland, supposedly for her anti-Islamic views and has been in exile since 1994.

She had taken refuge in Kolkata for sometime but was denied a year-long extension of her visa by the Indian government and, instead, given one for two months.

The 51-year-old writer had applied for a resident permit and the Indian home ministry granted her a mere two-month extension, pending verifications.
